The SHOE Initiative
After noticing the lack of proper footwear for badminton athletes in Ogun State, YSA's CEO, Siddhartha Javvaji, spearheaded an initiative to allocate raised donations and funds towards sending athletic sneakers to athlete abroad. From utilizing tire rubber to playing barefoot on splintered wood, athletes struggling to play the sport superficially constructed their own footwear. We aim to take an active stance on supporting these athletes.
The Youth STEM Academy's Badminton Department uses its raised donations and sponsorships to fund aspiring athletes with equipment, such as rackets, bags, and shuttles. Many of these efforts are concentrated in Ogun State, Nigeria with Oluwasegun spearheading the program. In a world where there are numerous avenues to succeed, badminton being one of them, the YSA athletic team is motivated to bring awareness to this physical education.
